Duke Nation…as always, thank you so much for listening to the podcast. This episode is a little bit different. This is raw audio, sorry about the sound quality, of a presentation given by coach Matt Kern and coach Glen Snodgrass at York’s MLK Day teacher conference. It was titled “Building a Championship Culture.” This episode is a little longer than normal, but there is so much great material I wanted to give you the entire thing.

What a great listen on this episode. Elvira is a facinating foreign exchange student from Sweden with a magnetic personality. She offers great insights into the differences in our countries and education systems. She is a heck of a tennis player. And she thinks corndogs are "weird," but we'll let that one slide. Thanks so much for listening and we hope that you subscribe to the podcast on iTunes.

Thursday Oct 19, 2017
This week we talk with two of our amazing partners from HumaneX Ventures, Nick Hovermale and Jordan Ortmeier. This is a partnership with a goal of developing student leaders within our activities programs. The leadership group, that we call the competitive leadership council, meets once or twice per month along with smaller committee meetings in between. Beyond developing personally, a few of the initiatives coming from this group include a lowering of student activity pass prices, a clothing drive for Houston hurricane relief, and building on our Be One theme by delivering YHS posters to businesses around town. But perhaps their biggest impact comes from the unseen things like rallying students to attend games or writing recognition or thank you notes throughout the year.
As you’ll hear from Jordan and Nick, our students are doing great things and we are tremendously proud of them. But the work is not done. I hope you enjoy this talk as much as I did...
